Legacy and Inspiration

To all my students, fellow educators and researchers—and especially to my colleagues, public administrators, private leaders and third-sector partners: May we always remember that multicultural education is the compass that must guide our rapidly globalizing world. Our ultimate mission is to prevent globalization from driving cultural homogenization, which leads to the erasure and extinction of unique cultural expressions. Just as biodiversity is crucial for natural life, cultural diversity is essential for the creative evolution of humanity. New ways of thinking and expressing ourselves can only emerge from the dynamic intersection of cultural encounters.
